I was tickled pink when Shannon Sewell agreed to do an interview on the forum! She is a gorgeous, creative, and incredibly talented photographer in Washington. She creates some of the most creative sets I have ever seen in photography. I remember the first time I saw her work I thought, “what a cool styled shoot!” I then decided to visit her blog to see more of her talent and was BLOWN away by her work. All of her sessions were styled in a way I had never seen before. I couldn’t stop gawking at her work. It was full of more creativity than I could ever imagine. I am so excited to interview her and figure out how that amazing brain of hers works!
Thanks Shannon for agreeing to be on our forum!
Thank YOU for asking me!!

Will you take a minute to tell us about yourself?
Sure. I am a mom of two fabulous kids. They have completely changed my life & made me a better person. I live in the beautiful PNW… though I love me some sun, nothing compares to our gorgeous scenery and lovely people. I leave myself open for any path but right now photography is how I get creative & express myself and I feel absolutely crazy blessed to have the life I have.

You just heard how I describe your work. AMAZING! I would love to hear how you would describe it?
Imaginative.. playful and stylish with a bit of whimsy.

What started your styled shooting and what was the first stylized session you ever did?
I’ve always loved design. I was really into interior design before I got into photography… constantly redesigning my spaces & looking for creative projects to make it all me. When I got into photography I used the same idea binder/inspiration pull/zest for creativity. It just began to lend itself to more & more styled shoots. My first focus when I was starting out was just to get good pictures: know how to use aperture, iso, camera settings in general to get a look… once that became second nature I got bored & started diving into my creative inspirations to bring some life to my work. I honestly can’t remember the first completely styled session… it was a progression for sure. I think the first one that got a lot of attention, went up in full on my blog/site was four little girls with parasols… still one of my favorites actually!
