If you’re an iPhone user chances are you already an Instagram user and you’re probably as addicted to it as I am. The last few days the buzz on the Instagram scene has been the January Photo-a-day Project via Fat Mum Slim and the ever elusive daily 366 project. As you know, The Bloom Forum has become home to many photo projects and we just couldn’t pass this one up! If you’re late to the party, never fear. There is still time to join!
Just head over to Instagram and sign in to your account, or sign up for one if you havent already, and search out #janphotoaday for the month-long project or #366 for the yearly project for the details. In order to keep up with all your friends on Bloom, make sure to tag #thebloomforum and either #janphotoaday or #366 to all your captions so we can all keep up with one another!
Now as you may already know, Instagram has some awesome filters of its own but if you’re a new iPhone user or bored with your current iphonography editing apps, here’s a few that I think are certainly worth the purchase!
Magic Hour- This one is probably my new favorite! Within this app, you can crop to a square, retouch curves, brightness and contrast as well as apply other users free filters in Magic Hour’s user to user marketplace.
Diptic- This app is awesome at creating quick, flexible storyboards of your images. 21 ready to go collages are totally customizable and expandable.
Snapseed- From Nik Software which has brought us Silver FX and many other editing software plugins, comes Snapseed. This is my go to app for applying Tilt Shift effects as well as Sharpening.
Hipstamatic- Still my favorite photo app hands down. It reminds me of film in the very slightest of ways because you have to wait a little longer than with the rest. And just like film, it doesn’t produce the kind of images you go “fixing”- you get what you get and its the pure happenstance of it all that makes the app so much fun. Love their new lens/film/flash package for photographing food! Now you can even order prints up to 30″ on beautiful archival paper directly from the app.
just.SelfTimer- Exactly what the name implies, this is the easiest and functional self timer for your iPhone to catch you on the days your hair is actually done and you have mascara on. Best of all? The sucker is FREE!
ShakeItPhoto- Easily my favorite app after Hipstamatic, ShakeItPhoto gives you beautiful polaroidish images complete with the border and authentic sounds. Best Fauxlaroid I’ve found hands down.
There are new apps coming into the App Store weekly so please share which ones you love in the comments below! And make sure to add #thebloomforum to your janphotoaday or 366 project to keep us in the loop! Happy 2012 Friends!
I can’t wait to join the “IG” challenge! Its downloading now!
Ugh, I need an iPhone :(
